What this audit covers

Our Free IT Health Check scores the plumbing — updates, backups, PHP, caching. This audit scores the front door: what a visitor, a search engine or a screen reader meets when they arrive.

Speed & mobile

Core Web Vitals, image weight and how the site behaves on a phone on a slow connection.

Search visibility

Titles, meta descriptions, heading structure, indexing and whether Google can find every page you care about.

Accessibility

Alt text, colour contrast, keyboard navigation and form labels — the WCAG basics most sites miss.

Content governance

Who owns the site, how often content is reviewed, and whether broken links and stale pages are caught.

Legal & consent

Privacy policy, cookie consent and the disclosures your site is required to show.

Conversion basics

Forms that get tested, clear calls to action and analytics that someone actually reads.

Your Website Health Scorecard

Pick the answer that best matches your site today. Each question notes a free way to check the answer in under a minute.

1. How fast does your homepage load on mobile?

Check: run the URL through PageSpeed Insights and read the mobile Performance score.

2. Are your Core Web Vitals passing?

Check: Google Search Console → Core Web Vitals report (mobile).

3. Does every page have a unique title and meta description?

Check: view source on three pages and compare the <title> tags, or run a free crawler like Screaming Frog (500 URLs free).

4. Do your important pages appear in Google?

Check: search site:yourdomain.com and compare the count to the pages you expect.

5. Do all meaningful images have alt text?

Check: WordPress → Media → open a few images and look at the Alt Text field; or run the free WAVE browser extension.

6. Does text pass colour-contrast requirements?

Check: WAVE flags contrast errors; or paste your text/background colours into a WCAG contrast checker (4.5:1 minimum for body text).

7. Can you use the whole site with a keyboard only?

Check: press Tab repeatedly from the top of the homepage — can you see where focus is and reach the menu, forms and buttons?

8. Do you have a privacy policy and working cookie consent?

Check: open the site in a private window — is a consent notice shown before analytics/ad scripts load, and is the privacy policy linked in the footer?

9. When did someone last review every page for outdated content and broken links?

Check: run a free broken-link checker; look at the "last modified" date on your oldest service page.

10. Is there a named owner and a written process for website changes?

Check: who approves a new page? Where is that written down?

11. When did you last test every form end-to-end?

Check: submit each form yourself and confirm the notification arrives and the confirmation page shows.

12. Is analytics installed and does someone read it monthly?

Check: does GA4 (or an alternative) show data for last week? When was the last time a decision was made from it?

    Questions

How is this different from the Free IT Health Check?

The IT Health Check scores the back end — WordPress updates, PHP, backups, caching and monitoring. The Website Health Audit scores the visitor-facing side — speed, search visibility, accessibility, content upkeep, legal pages and conversion basics. Most sites benefit from running both; they rarely score the same.

Is the score a compliance certificate?

No. It is a self-assessment to show where to look first. A real accessibility or governance finding requires manual testing — that is what the $297 Website Governance & Accessibility Audit is for.

Do I have to give my email?

No. Your score and first three fixes show instantly on this page. The email is only if you want the printable checklist and a copy of your results.
